I have some questions I'd like to ask all of you on the net
about the 2500 and 2500UX. I'm thinking of buying one or the other of
these machines and I'd like to know more about them. Please mail your
responces to me and I'll post a summary in a few days or so. Thanks!
1) What is the clock speed of the 68020 and the 68881/2 for either
machine?
2) Does the 2500 come with a MMU, and if so, does it serve any
purpose? i.e. does it keep programs in their own areas and stop them
from being bad boys and trashing random memory locations by giving
segmentation fault errors?
3) What is the exact setup for both machines when you buy it? I've
heard that for the 2500 you get: 68020 board, 2Megs 32bit memory,
xxMeg hard drive (what size, type and controller?), workbench 1.3 and
some other stuff. For the 2500UX I've heard: same as above, plus MMU,
plus UNIX (what version and type? BSB 4.3?) plus larger and faster
hardrive.
4) Is it cheaper to by just a bare bones 2000 and then add the rest
from 3rd party suppliers? I'd like to buy the 2000 and 68020 card,
and then get the memory and hard drive and harddrive controller from
other places, is this possible? Does the CBM 68020 board have any
dependencies on what hardware it can and cannot work with?
5) What monitor comes with the system? (Almost forgot this question
;-])
6) What are the prices for the entire system (2500 and 2500UX), prices
for the 020 board by itself, RAM boards (2 and 4 Meg) and software
(Amiga UNIX in paticular)?
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate this, because I've learned
some stuff from comp.sys.amiga, but some of the more mundane questions
just slipped on by...
