[comp.sys.amiga] BYTE's bias -- too bad

Recently a crossposted lament/flame appeared on this list referring to
bias that BYTE magazine shows towards certain personal computers. The
apparent bias unfortunately works against that one machine we know and love.

Well, tough. BYTE *always* has been commercial. From day one under
Wayne Green. That they base editorial decisions on what they (it?)
perceive as valid commercial factors *really* IS their business. Literally.

About 8 months ago or so I saw the writing on the wall and decided to
let my (1975 charter member) subscription expire. You can, too. Many have
and are. But don't waste your breath nor fingers "verbally" complaining
about BYTE's bias. They even wrote once that they were going PC/Mac in
orientation. Hey, they kept their PUBLICALLY made promise!
--------------------------------------
Irrelevant opinion time -- BYTE is rapidly approaching the point where
they will soon be writing about dishwasher-equivalents. Now I don't know about
you, but *I'm* just not interested in reading an entire magazine about my
dishwasher...it's just another appliance. [we won't even mention DDJ, right?]

I personally believe that this "mainstream" slant that more than one
computer magazine is taking WILL eventually lead to their demise. So it
goes.

Now me? I'm looking forward to that new gee-whiz 512-processor single
board machine they have a construction article on in Ciarcia Celler
Ink...[please please please, don't go PC...]
--------------------------------------
Pardon the length...consider this a long-held sigh...

We could always start burning Byte magazines, and put a price on the
head of the editor-in-chief.

In case you did not notice, :-).

Well, that doesn't mean we can't or should not flame the living shit out of
them as long as they ignore or badmouth the Amiga. Do what you want. I'll
continue to badmouth them, futile as it may seem to you. If nothing else, it
makes me feel better.
