In germany, you can buy a kickstart module that plugs the expansion port. It doesn't need to override the internal ROMs since during bootstrap the Amiga checks for a ROM cartrigde at location $f00000. There you can place a copy routine that loads the kickstart RAM from some external EPROMS, disables these ROMs (acutally not needed, but this version does it) and then jumps to the loaded kickstart.
