After reading all the blurbs about/against Montgomery Grant, I thought I would add my 2 pennies worth. I have heard from a friend that CBM yanked MG's dealership. How 'bout it Commodore, any truth to this? If it is true, it seems that the buying public should be made aware of this. On a side note, a person in our club got the royal-runaround when she dealt with MG. I still do not know if she ever got satisfaction, but the whole incident certainly soured her on the Amiga. We are lucky to have a local dealer who is VERY suportive of both the Amiga and our club. They attend the meetings, demo new stuff, let us try new stuff before buying (hardware, etc), and give discounts to club members. With the proposed usage tax law now being considered, finding a food local dealer may be an important consideration. If mail order dealers have to start playing tax collector for the state you reside in, then the competitive price difference starts to dwindle, and the small differential may not be worth the hassles, wait, and sometimes downright dishonesty that is associated with mail order houses. Note I said SOME, there are some very good mail order companies out there, but like anything else, a few bad ones ruin it for the rest. George Gibeau the opinions expressed are my own. At least I think so, unless of course, I have been receiving sublimminal messages from space. That darn Elvis, why doesn't he leave me alone :-) -- (Why do we drive on our parkways and park on our driveways?) Idiots? They're worse than idiots. They're bureaucrats!! Montgomery Grant is not an authorized Commodore dealer.
Paul.

I, too, have had my share of bad experiences with Montomery Grant, even though I went to the store personally (they are about 20 minutes away from me).. Two years ago, when I first started considering getting an Amiga, I shopped around, and found their price in the newspapers to be the best. I went there, and got a price quote on the back of a business card. Over the next three days, the price changed three times, each time I called. Of course, the business man I talked to was never to be heard of again.. I ended up paying the extra money and getting my amiga from a REAL computer store. While we're on the subject, if anybody considers buying from "Four Guys Computers" in Manhattan, New York, forget it. They are worse than MG. They had the audacity to charge $75 for the 1.3 *disk* upgrade, when it retails for $30.. They said, "Commodore raised the price because of the excessive demand." Yeah, sure, whatever they say.
