[comp.sys.amiga] Amiga BBS software

bilbo@pnet02.cts.com (Bill Daggett) (02/28/88)

I recently gave up running a BBS because of problems (gurus and hangs) I was
having with the software. I am still interested in finding a good BBS program
to continue running Bilbo's Hideaway on but I am not willing to settle for
less. I expect user friendly features and Sysop utilities. The conversation
style of P-net is great but P-net doesn't run on an Amiga. TAG was fast but
otherwise dead. Perhaps overall I remember Micro*Link that I used in my old
Apple dayz. I have a good idea of what I'm looking for and what I'm not
looking for since I have been Sysoping almost constantly since 1984. There
seem to be very few choices for the Amiga:

TAG
Custom-BBS
BBS-PC

Are there any others out there that I just haven't heard of yet? I may be
looking for you. Please give me a clue as to how to get in touch with them.

Thanks in advance.

Bill

I have a friend who runs an Amiga-based BBS here in Ireland. He's using
the latest version of BBS-PC! (V4.13 I think) and is reasonably satisfied
with it, but is thinking of changing to something else, now that MSS seem
to have stopped development on it (no updates for over a year).

In particular, he is interested in multi-user capability, the ability
for users to gateway to other programs while online, and no long waits
for message scans during login (this is a big problem for users who call
infrequently). Of course, it would be nice if he could keep all the existing
benefits of BBS-PC! as well (fully customisable menus, large message
bases, etc. etc)

So, could any sysops who run Amiga BBS's mail me with their experiences
and views on the package they're using please (BBS-PC! excepted)? One package
which has been advertised recently is Andreus (sp?), and I've seen Citadel
mentioned on here recently as well.

Reply via email unless you think it would be of interest to the rest of
the net.
