[ are there still line eating mailers out there? ] I know that this subject has been kicked to death already, but I seem to have misplaced ;-) my archive of this thread. I seem to remember somebody posting info on how they isolated the cause of the 'dead seagate' syndrome, and suggesting a possible fix. It had something to do with replacing a part (power transitor?) that was found to be of marginal quality. Anyone remember/got_any_clues? I've got a seagate st138n that is starting to exhibit the syndrome: won't spin-up on power-up drive light shows diagnostic blinks then stays on for a minute then goes out I can get the drive to come up after 3 to 5 power-up attempts seems to always happen when the machine has been off for >12 hrs and the room temp is <68 degrees (i.e.: it's ccccold). Thanks in advance to anyone that can shed some light on this DEPRESSING situation. --- Eric Keisler, Computer Services, CSU Fresno erick@csufres.CSUFresno.EDU erick@csuf3b.csufres.CSUFresno.EDU BITNET: 1GTLEOK@CIPINS.FRESNO.CALSTATE.EDU
