[comp.sys.amiga] Possible cures for moderation delays

karl@sugar.hackercorp.com (Karl Lehenbauer) (03/04/89)

I think it is agreed that moderating comp.{sources,binaries}.amiga is a tough
job.

Perhaps the thing to do here is to spread the work around.

I'm thinking the moderator would make a basic "post/no post" decision about
a new package he/she received, then send mail to a mailing list of people
who had signed up to be submission testers. The message would include any
hardware and software requirements for building and running the program.

A tester meeting those requirements who wanted to test the software would
get it from the moderator. This could be done by FTP if both were on the
Internet, by a mail server or by the moderator mailing it out, depending
on software, etc.

The "sub-moderator" would then test, and if everything was cool, either mail
it back for posting or post it with an "Approved" line, depending on how it
had been decided to do this.

If the moderator had a lot of cool shell scripts set up for this stuff, it
wouldn't be nearly as much work as trying to test everything personally.
