The price, according to the flyer I received from them with my SCSIDOS 3.0 update says that it will have a suggested retail price of $399.95 for the SCSI/1000hs. If you already own one of their controllers and have the up- dated software the upgrade will cost $100.00 and if you want the hardware/ software upgrade it will cost $120.00. They are also offering an upgrade for owners of (as they say) ANY NON-C Ltd. SCSI Host/Controller, with all the necessary hardware, software, and documentation for $150.00. As you have probably guessed I own one of their A-1000 hard drive units and I am very satisfied with it (well except I wish it had more storage capacity, but then we all want alot of storage space). Second, here is some diskperf data for you from an 8.5 meg partition that is 61% full. This data is with the old slow SCSI controller and the SLLOOOWWW adaptec 4070 controller. File create/delete: create 7 files/sec, delete 11 files/sec Directory scan: 96 entries/sec Seek/read test: 73 seek/reads per second r/w speed: buf 512 bytes, rd 49461 byte/sec, wr 29127 byte/sec r/w speed: buf 4096 bytes, rd 79437 byte/sec, wr 35910 byte/sec r/w speed: buf 8192 bytes, rd 90394 byte/sec, wr 36921 byte/sec r/w speed: buf 32768 bytes, rd 97090 byte/sec, wr 38550 byte/sec These numbers are low compared to what I got on a newly formatted partition, in a newly formatted partition I was getting read speeds of 170K/sec. I have heard of owners of the same CLtd SCSI controller and an OMTI controller in place of the Adaptec getting over 300K per second. From what I hear about the new CLtd. SCSI controller it is supposed to be real fast, over 500K/sec. In the ad for the New SCSI Host/Controller they (CLtd.) say that at the Commodore sponsored Commodore-Amiga Developer/Dealer Exhibition held at Comdex in Las Vegas they showed everyone how fast their new controller was and posted a $1000.00 challenge to any one who could take them on in a one- on-one test conducted by an independent testing laboratory. According to them, not one competitor has responded to the challenge. Disclaimer: I am not in any way connected with CLtd. except as a satisfied customer. -- ____ / / / Amiga 1000 | Thomas "Maverick" Schwarz - Sirius Software / / / The Machine | Box 349 Caromar Dr. Mars, PA 16046 ____ / / / That Made It | (412) 443-6918 \ \ \/ / / Possible! | \ \/ / / -- |UUCP: {allegra, cadre}!pitt!darth!floopy!maverick \/_/_/ First! | or: {allegra,cadre}!idis!insight!thomas_schwarz

If I have BrandX SCSI controller, I send it (and all supporting stuff) to CLtd with $150 and they send me their controller? If so, anybody have their address?!?
