A large corporation that I consult for recently was told by their DEC representatives that DEC would fully support and maintain Berkeley 4.2 UNIX(TM) for them. They were told this last week while DEC were visiting their site. They were also told "If you have to run UNIX, make sure its BSD 4.2" Oliver McBryan.

Since 4.2bsd is not so portable as system III it's not likely that it will find itself running on mini's and mainframes not manufactured by DEC. brian redman
