[comp.sys.amiga] ***** Sculpt3d World for Sale ******

ULC@PSUVM.BITNET (03/12/89)

Hello there all you graphics enthusiasts...
I have finally completed two Sculpt3/4 D objects that might interest you.

    A) A flat outline of all the major land masses of the earth ( mercator
       projection )

    B) A "GLOBE" of the world containing the major land masses, suitably
triangularized to give a smooth sperical surface.

Object (A) can be suitable for any number of applications by itself:
a ground pattern, a logo etc. and since it is flat, one can use a
minimal number of triangles in it's construction. It will render on
       a 1Meg Amiga.

Object (B) consists of approximatly 1800 triangles. This will only render
on a machine with 1.5Meg or more. The increase in the database size is
because of the need for a finer triangle subdivision to approximate a
sphere. It only contains the major land masses with the exclusion of
the Artic/Antartic. It does not include the "SEA" which can be
constructed by the addition of an underlying blue sphere ( I find a
refinement factor of 2 is best here ).
Using SA4D in the scanlinepaint mode, a full size image in ham
interlaced mode is produced in approximatly 25minutes with a normal Ami.

A short animation is available ( by Monday 13th March ) on a local BBS
       ( 814-231-1345 2400 noparity 8bit) to show the detail.

A nice idea that could produce VERY nice results is to use INTERCHANGE
to convert the globe into Turbo Silver format and render it as glass
( frosted glass for the land - clear blue for the sea ) with the
       correct refraction.

Unfortunately this object ( as you could imagine ) took MANY man hours
to produce and is ( in my humble opinion ) a quality product. So I am
charging $25 for a disk containing both objects (A) + (B) as SA scenes.
Hopefully I will be able to eventually afford a hard disk so that I may
       pursue my "NICE" idea above.

                            (814) 867-3844.

Ps. If possible try to get the animation from the BBS before sending
away. I cannot transfer my animation to a FTP site here as we are
not equipped with an Ami interface.
            Any comments would be appreciated.
I am not sure if I can post this on USENET but I am NOT affiliated
            with any company.
