Well, the AC Buyers' Guide is out. It's kinda weird in places. For instance, when they alphabetized, they included the leading "The" in titles, i.e. Chessmaster 2000 is under 'T' becuse it's real title is "The Chessmaster 2000." I know about lead times, but this is ridiculous. In the Programming section, they list Lattice C as being on 4.0. Furthermore, they have the curious entries: AmigaDOS C Compiler 4.0 Includes object module librarian, disassembler, M68000 macro assembler, linker, library functions, examples, and more. On-line interface to all AmigaROM functions. Supports 16 or 32-bit integers; built in ANSI functions reduce subroutine calls. Library includes over 250 Amiga, ANSI, UNIX, and Lattice functions. [my note: this SOUNDS like Lattice 4.0, right? Well... now for the last two words of the description] $200.00 Ketek [Ketek?] [and underneath that is:] AmigaDOS C Development System 4.0 COmplete programming environment with Lattice C compiler, Compiler Companion, LSE (screen editor) and Metadigm Metascope Debugger. $375.00 Lattice, Inc. [will the real Lattice 4.0 please stand up? :-] The thing I don't understand is why Lattice 5.0 isn't mentioned, but Wayne Gretzky Hockey is? I was under the impression the WHG came out after Lattice 5.0, yet WHG is in the Guide. There are other interesting anomalies in other places as well. Still, though, it's probably woth buying of you're not a subscriber. There were things listed in there that I have never heard of, that sound pretty neat. One final note: my vote for strangest Amiga product goes to the program that plays a tune based on the amino acid sequences in proteins. It's called "Protein Music" for $19.95 from Silver Software (p. 53 of AC Buyers' Guide). Anyone notice any other "strange" programs?
