Well it was inevitable, I've run into a problem and I'm appealing to
the gods of the net for answers.
I'm still a bit new to the amiga so forgive me if some of this seems
obvious to some of you. My problems concern:
a) The bridgeboard software, specifically the aread, and awrite commands.
I can't seem to be able to transfer binary files across the bridge using
awrite or aread, text files on the other hand work fine. I'm currently
using the Janus software v1.0 (I think). Is there any way I can get these
commands to do this transfer, the manual on the bridgeboard says very little
about this restriction. Might I be able to use a program like UUencode and
UUdecode to make the files into ascii then transfer them and translate them
back to binary? Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
b) I'm currently working on an animation using sculpt/animate 3-D but I would
like to work by dumping each frame directly to video. Now I know that SA3D
supports this option if you have a video frame controller, and some driver
software to drive it. I have access to a lyon lamb video frame controller
but have no software to drive it, is there anyone who can direct me to the
location of such a beast. Also if there is any info you can provide me about
other ways to put animations on to video, frame-by-frame (some easier way
preferably ,I also have access to a genlock, haven't tried it yet but I
hope this will make my job easier) I would appreciate that to.
My hardware situation consists of an A2000 with an XT bridgeboard and a 20meg
hardisk on the IBM side. The genlock is a SuperGen (something like that anyway).
Anyways thanks for listening to my babbling, and if I ever finish this animation
I'll be sure to let you know(I know, I'll call it boing!...Naw!!).

With the very first version of ARead and AWrite, you were SOL. Shortly thereafter, they came out with a verison that supports an optional "/B" switch, which will allow a binary transfer. Try it out; if your commands don't have the "/B" switch, they'll complain, so you can't really mess anything up this way. > Might I be able to use a program like UUencode and UUdecode to make the > files into ascii then transfer them and translate them back to binary? That would certainly work, though it shouldn't be necessary with the right transfer commands. > Peter Kaldis > a faithful and devout amigan -- Dave Haynie "The 32 Bit Guy" Commodore-Amiga "The Crew That Never Rests" {uunet|pyramid|rutgers}!cbmvax!daveh PLINK: D-DAVE H BIX: hazy Amiga -- It's not just a job, it's an obsession
