Gold Disk - Professional Page
Where do I start?
How about importing text from WordPerfect! AS far as I am
concerned it doesn't work. Well I should qualify this and say that it does
import the file all right but there will be random errors.
If your wondering I use WP because of the spell checker and
thesaurus. I can't spell and I do not know many words, if you know what I
mean.
Words that are joined without spaces.
Words that look like they are joined but have a space in-between them. The
only way in finding out if this is the case, is to put ProPage in the highest
magnification and then use the curser keys to find out which instance you
are dealing with.
Very anoying I will tell you. BTW, before anyone FLAMES me, I have
tryed everything! eg.Using WP Sending out to a text file. And then inporting
the file in a
number of ways. I even used my favourite editor and feed the file from WP
into it and then saved the same file over top of the original, just in case
WP was not doing it right. But to NO avail. What a drag.
Talking about drags.... I traded in my 1000 to a 2000 and bought
the 2090a and a miniscribe 40 meg hard drive. I thought this would speed up
the disk I/O of ProPage. Well I had a 25 page document in ProPage and when
I had worked on the file for 15 minutes I would save it.... Coffee time,
smoke break later, I could continue to work! That program reminds me of the
I/O of the 1541 without the fastload cartridge! BTW, this document was
nothing special, another words it was an all text file.
I even went over to a friends place, he has the 68020 board from C=
and the disk I/O is no better.
I would like to ask, if there is anyone here from Gold Disk, What
the .... is all the screen flashing about after disk I/O's? It seems the
longer the file the more time the screen flashes! I thought it was just my
machine as I do not have all kinds of memory hanging about but it still
does it on my friends machine too.
Let's talk graphics for a sec...
I do not know what you do to the digitised graphics but they are by
no means 1.0 x 1.0 when they are finished being imported. I guess I should
call the support line and have a chat with them to find out what values
should be used when importing the graphics. But in my mind if a program
says that is was imported to 1.0 by 1.0 values that what they should be.

Suggestions:
If anyone is out there that is connected to Gold Disk. I am using
V1.1.1.
I forgot to turn the rotate the pages -270 degrees in the postscript
requester area. And I had this 25 pages in the file. I had to go in and
rotate each page. Please if you would, add a little gadget to rotate the
entire file.
One thing that is sorly needed in ProPage is ability to see a
reader spread. ie. pages six and seven together on the screen but would
normaly print seperately.

I would like to thank you for a good product and fixing that I/O
error that cropped up once in a while that would not let me load a file
that I was working on because it was corrupt. I have not had that problem
sinse going to the hard drive, but that was about the time I recieved
V1.1.1 so I do not know what fixed it, but I am still a little leery and
save two copies of everything I do, can I stop that practice yet?
