DNET V2.00 has been available for a while now to ARPAnet people and a few minor bugs have been found. I have just finishing sending the very latest to Chris at the Transactor for inclusion in their disk, and will soon be sending it to Fred Fish and comp.binaries/sources.amiga The release will contain additional improvements to what is currently available via ARPAnet (I will update ucbvax.berkeley.edu as well). The greatest improvment is to the SCLI server (remote shell server). Thanks to Chris, Nick, and everybody else at Transactor an fterm-hack called 'cliterm' now exists which line-buffers and a program called 'noreq' exists (not sure where *it* originally came from) to turn off DOS requesters making the remote-cli work a whole lot better. Also, due to confusion between my PIPE: and the commodore PIPE:, I am renaming my PIPE: to DPIPE: DPIPE: is required to be able to run a remote cli over DNet. Currently you can only run one at a time but I am working on fixing that. I have no idea when my DNET-BBS will be done and it will not be in this release. People may also send me a disk to obtain DNet. Please specify whether you want the source + binaries or just the binaries. One disk will do, I am now using my backup program with -c (compress) option... if you want just binaries I do not need to create an archive. If you want source as well I will have to send an archive. The restore program will, of course, be on the disk. NOTE that the source requires Aztec CV3.6 to compile. Note that you need a hard disk to compile the source (it's quite large, mainly due to the support libraries). The Amiga Transactor (magazine) has also put together a DNet package on disk. These are the same binaries as I will be distributing. They were slightly behind schedule but it turns out that because of that they will be able to distribute these latest changes instead of an older version. Matthew Dillon 891 Regal Rd. Has anyone had problems installing this on a Sun4? The documentation mentions the Sun3, but not the 4. Right now I can get one FTERM running, but a second one or a getfiles, etc will make it stop working. There are packets going through, I can see on the modem it looks like there are ACKs or something every second or so. When I do STATDNET it tells me no changes except a new error-ed packet every second or so. Any clues? -Tom -- Tom Limoncelli -- tlimonce@drunivac.Bitnet -- limonce@pilot.njin.net Drew University -- Madison, NJ -- 201-408-5389 Standard Disclaim er.
