[comp.sys.amiga] Some hotline.

disd@hubcap.clemson.edu (Gary Heffelfinger) (04/01/89)

I'm taking lots of deep breaths and am trying to resist the temptation
to flame Pacific Peripherals to a crisp. In their ad in the most recent
"Info" magazine they mention a little thing they call their "customer
support hotline." I've been running FFS for several months at a
low rate of speed because either their Overdrive hardware or the device
driver software is unable to keep up with FFS unbounded. I figured that I'd
suffered enough, and that I would give this "hotline" number a call.
What did I get, you ask? A fu*king answering machine. I knew that PP
is not the developer of either the hardware or the software, so I wasn't
all that amazed to be reaching the offices of someone other than PP.
But I was expecting a little more than an answering machine during
normal work hours. The ad states that the hours run from 7am to 6pm
PST, Mon - Fri. It is currently 3pm EST on Friday. Is it wrong of me
to expect a human to answer the "hotline" during work hours?

I guess next time I'll have to try after lunchtime PST. :-)

Anyone want to trade a slightly used Overdrive for a new Hardframe? :-(

Is there anyone out there running an Overdrive who is getting DISKPERF
read/write rates higher than 30K? (That's right kids, I said *30*, not
300.) On the same note, is there any Overdrive user who has no Mask parm
specified in his/her MountList, and has a MaxTransfer rate higher than 512?
Has any Overdrive user out there got a copy of the Overdrive.device that
is dated later than the end of January 89?

I'll be okay soon....

Gary

[ flame of answering machine ]

I've had good luck with P.P. and their support line. I didn't always get
the answer I wanted, but they answered the line and were very courteous.
I got some good help setting up the hard drive when I first got my 2000.
My only flame is, when is that autoboot addon coming!?!?

Gary, I'm getting preformance a *lot* better than you. Write me and
we'll compare notes. Anybody else with an Overdrive join in.
