[comp.sys.amiga] Software Shop: Recommendations?

phil@eos.UUCP (Phil Stone) (04/04/89)

I'm thinking of ordering a Quantum-40 hard drive and Supra Controller
card from The Software Shop of Worcestor, Mass. They have a very good
price for these items; I need to hear from anybody that has dealt with
this mail-order company. Were you happy, or ready to commit murder
after dealing with them?

Please respond via email. I'll summarize if the response merits.
Thanks very much.

I was very disappointed in my dealings with The Software Shop. I found them
to be very unreliable and not very truthful.

I live down the street from the Software Shop, and so I browse through
there fairly frequently. The quality of service that I've gotten there
is highly variable, depending on who's working there. There are some
young guys who seem to be (perhaps) less knowledgeable but very honest,
while on the other hand there's one older guy who clearly knows a lot
but I don't trust. If I want trustworthy service (and am willing to pay
the price) I go to the Software Etc. (B. Dalton) at the local mall.
They don't know a lot about Amigas either, and the selection is small,
but they've been incredibly trustworthy there --- they've been much more
than fair when I've had problems with stuff I'd bought there.
