[comp.sys.amiga] COBOL compilers for Amigas?

daveh@cbmvax.UUCP (Dave Haynie) (04/02/89)

Does anybody know of a good COBOL compiler for Amiga's? COBOL-74 would
be acceptable if necessary.

I'm tired of boinging and have decided to devote the rest of
my life to accounting systems...

I suspect few people fell for this for more than a couple milliseconds,
Dave. You'll have to find something more plausible next year!

But it's trickier than it looks. I didn't write it. If _I_ were giving up
this business, it certainly wouldn't be to write accounting systems. I mean,
COBOL is one of the few languages I don't even slightly know. No, if I were
looking for an alternate career, I think I'd become a beach bum. Just lie
under a palm tree all day, listening to the sounds of the surf, and the gulls,
and Jimmy Buffett on a cheap cassette player, drinking Mount Gay Barbados
Eclipse Rum all day.....

The sad part is that I am in NEED of a cobol compiler.
(Oh God, I can't believe I said that... Someone kill me, quick!)

I have a term project due in the next two weeks, and absolutly
refuse to learn JCL to do it. The satan worshiping professor is
requiring it to be done in COBOL, hence, a PC based COBOL compiler
would facilitate things to no end... Anyone have one lying around
for the Ami, (or for that matter the IBM. I realize that the
Transformer is slower than sin, but for COBOL, who cares?)
