Preliminary Contest Announcement:
The Southern New Hampshire AMIGA Users Group is planning to sponsor the:

SNHAUG BEST PD CONTEST

Proposed Catagories:
-------------------
GAME -- ANY kind of game; arcade, adventure, strategy, etc.
Application -- ANY kind of application; Wordprocessor, SpreadSheet, etc.
UTILITY -- ANY kind of utility; ie. DiskSalv, VirusX, etc.
Our Purpose:
-----------
We Think BADGE is doing a GREAT Job for the KILLER Demo world. We as a
group of dedicated Users and Programmers want to do the same thing for the
basement and late night hackers and programmers of the world. In doing this we
will strive to promote creativity and originality in judging this BEST PD
CONTEST and this contest will also offer another forum for distribution of
those programs.
Rules:
------
The Winning Programs will be;
1. Easy to install on a Hard Drive or Floppy and run. Include a install
script.
2. Virus free and DO NOT CRASH THE MACHINE to run or when finished have you
reboot to end the program, VERY Bad form. This will be checked with the
newest version of VirusX and all attempts to crash the program will be made.
3. Freely Redistributable, we will put the winners in our SNHAUG PD
Collection and we will send them to comp.binaries.amiga and/or
comp.sources.amiga as well as Fred Fish.
4. Promote the Amiga, Show off a special part of the AMIGA so we can rub the
other computer companies noses in it.
5. Taking in account the other 4 rules, the winner will be the BEST in the
catagory that it was submited under.
A Entry WILL be disqualified for any of the following:
a. if it crashes the machine ;
b. if it has or installs a virus ;
c. if it does not exit cleanly ;
d. if it is not freely redistributable (ok to copyright, but if you prevent
us from distributing it, it won't be accepted as a contest entry);
e. does not include a document file to tell the users how to operate all the
features.
Other Recommendations:
---------------------
1. Make the program run on a 512K machine, or at least 1Meg.
2. Make the program MULTI-TASK !!!! Please use the AMIGA the way it was
intended !!!!

All entries will be acknowledged on receipt. If you want your entry
material to be returned following the contest, please include a self-
addressed envelope with sufficient postage to carry the material
safely back to you.
Prizes:
-------
We are Officially soliciting ANY persons and/or companies for donations. As we
are a Non-Profit organization you should be able to deduct it from somewhere,
though I am not up on the IRS code on this. We will Accept any kind of
hardware, software or other computer related donation. As these donations are
made the prize structure will be determined and posted. We would like to have
at least one prize for each catagory, but with lots of help we will have
runner-up prizes.
This is again only a preliminary anouncement, its purpose is to test the waters
for such a contest and to solicite opinions. We know what a large job the
proposed contest will be and we feel we are up to the task.

The judgement date will be at the January meeting of SNHAUG.
