From article <2954@uokmax.UUCP:, by noel@uokmax.UUCP (Bamf):
: I have not had cause to backup my harddisk for quite sometime now,
: apparently not since I got WB1.3. I tried to do a backup with
: QuarterBack the other day, and it guru'd all over the place...
: (Hmm, this is new) Same old Quarterback, so it must be somewhere else.
: (FWIW, the guru is 000000003.021Dsomething-or-other)
:
: I believe that when I got WB1.3, I also started using Supra's mount
: software V5.1 (as opposed to the older 4.3) with the -s option (Means
: somehing like direct scsi) This too may be the culprit (and is
: strongly suspicous).

Yup, that's the culprit... It seems that between the release of 4.3
and 5.1, the programmer had a Hd crash (:-}) and had to restore his source
using some real old stuff... A bug that was swatted after 2.5 found it's way
back in. The 5.1 software has problems when reading on odd byte boundries.
The soultion is readily available from Supra via the 5.3 software, or their
just released 'Release II' software. The new Release II software is *very*
nice!

: (Anyone willing to send me the updated version, or post it to an
: anon-ftp site? I think the newest is 5.3.)

You will really only need the harddisk.device and the scsidisk.device
software... I know they posted it to a bunch of BBS systems, plus places like
Plink...

: Thanks in advance,
:
