Can anyone out there recommend a _good_ spreadsheet for Amy? I've been trying to use MaxiplanPlus (version 1.9B; supposedly the absolute latest) and getting gurued regularly. It's ridiculous for any serious work. I don't need graphics, but would appreciate them if they could be output to a plotter, or to a graphics printer in a high resolution mode (better than a bitmap from the screen). But what I really do want is solid functionality without gurus. I use the IRR function quite a bit, and in Maxiplan, it locks the machine if you try it on a cashflow that would yield a negative IRR (then gurus if you try to start anything else). I also get gurus just trying to select ranges sometimes. Also get them if I try to change the printer margins when I have a spreadsheet up. And several more... There's just gotta be something better. How about it??? Tom Bruhns tomb%hplsla@hplabs.hp.com

Lattice has a spreadsheet called Unicalc. It lacks a lot of bells and
whistles but it seems pretty solid. I haven't had it crash my system. I
think it's overpriced at $80 but you might find it useful. I bought it at
a computer store's yard sale for $12. At that price it's well worth the
money.

We had one of our user group members drop some hints about the
newest rendition of MaxiPlan at our last meeting. It's now called Plan/IT
and is being marketed by BEST, the people who do the business software.
Version 2.0 is essentially a debugged version of MaxiPlan. They've been
shipping 2.0 for several weeks, but only as part of some bundled software
(maybe only available in Europe...) Version 3.0 adds a whole bunch of
very nice features and was supposed to be shipping long before our next
meeting... (This coming tuesday :-}) I don't know if 3.0 is really out yet,
but I do know that BEST tends to hold off on release until the software
*really* works.
