[] Well, somebody named Mark Podlipec finally did it. I found a GIF->IFF conversion utility in the AmigaArts forum on Compuserve last weekend, and I'm sending it to xanth, where I assume it will be made available for anonymous ftp shortly. Here's what I've found after a few days of use: Plusses: This thing does a bangup job of getting the colors right when converting 256-color GIF images to IFF. There are 3 available options for color conversion, and all work far better than using the HAMGIF display program. Minuses: seems to screw up when the screen width of the GIF image isn't the Amiga standard 320 or 640. I got garbage when I used it to convert pics of other widths. Also, the 'unlace' utility in the package doesn't give back all the buffers it mallocs. Since the program came as executable-only, you'll have to live with the limitations. - QQQCLC - Kenn Barry --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ELECTRIC AVENUE: {most major sites}!ames!eos!barry ARPA: barry@eos.arc.nasa.gov
