Now that I have IFF2Sun, I am *very* intersted in getting good iff pictures that do not use half-brite, or HAM so that I can convert them to X-11 bitmaps. (Makes for a very nice background) Can anyone reccommend me a good anonymous-ftp site that has collections of pictures?? Thanks -Eli -- Eli Charne

(Makes for a very nice background) Likewise, I have some very nice backgrounds that started out as 576x450 DigiView hi-res (16 shade monochrome) IFF pictures, got converted to 8-bit raster files using IFF2SUN, and then to dithered b&w using rastfilter8to1. They look great on a b&w Sun 3/50, but lousy on a color 3/60. Wanted: A program that runs on the Amiga and converts an arbitrary HAM IFF picture to a HAM IFF file that uses 256 or fewer different colors. (I want it to stay in HAM IFF format so that it can be touched up on the Amiga and 256 colors to be shown on other systems.) Also Wanted: A program that runs on a Sun and converts IFF files to raster files *with colormap*. Bob Page says there are several (an I'm sure there are), but I found no mention in the Fish disk listing or the comp.sources.amiga index. -- Joe Smith (408)922-6220 | jms@antares.Tymnet.COM or jms@tymix.Tymnet.COM McDonnell Douglas FSCO | UUCP: ...!{ames,pyramid}!oliveb!tymix!antares!jms PO Box 49019, MS-D21 | PDP-10:JMS@F74.Tymnet.COM CA license plate:"POPJ P," San Jose, CA 95161-9019 | narrator.device: "I didn't say that, my Amiga did!"

If you get the NEW version of iff2sun, there is an option on the command line to do color pictures. ie: iff2sun -c infile outfile. The -c tells iff2sun to preserve the Amiga color table and stuff it into the Sun output file. )Wanted: A program that runs on the Amiga and converts an arbitrary HAM IFF )picture to a HAM IFF file that uses 256 or fewer different colors. I am currently adding half-bright support to iff2sun but I am also looking at doing a conversion from HAM to 256 colors. As soon as I figure out how that is ;-) )Also Wanted: A program that runs on a Sun and converts IFF files to raster )files *with colormap*. If it's really that important for you to have the color version you can either bug Bob, or email me for my current copy. If you wait a few days I'll have half-bright support included and debugged. -- Steve -Raz- Berry Disclaimer: I didn't do nutin!
