[comp.sys.amiga] Zoo problems

GG.LSO@forsythe.stanford.edu (Lincoln Ong) (05/01/89)

I am trying to install GeoTime from /amiga/fish/ff164/GeoTime.zoo
from uxe.cso.uiuc.edu. However, from all indications, I need to use
Zoo 2.0 in order use it. This is where I am encountering problems.
I have gotten Zoo 2.0 in zoo format, but I am unable to get 1.42 to
unload the new version of Zoo. On the amiga, Zoo keeps on
complaining that the checksum is bad and the file is corrupted.

The system is a Amiga 500 running VT100 2.6, and I am using Kermit
to transfer the files. On the host system, I have transferred
everything using binary mode in FTP. What am I doing wrong? Is
there a version of Zoo 2.0 in arc format that I can FTP? (I seem to
have better luck with files in arc format!)

I have a bunch of programs in zoo format that I would very much like
to use.

                                             thanks!

You might try setting your host kermit options, especially the
type to binary, and the amiga kermit to image mode. Here's what I
have in my host unix .kermrc

	set file type binary
	set file name literal
	set parity even

There is an arced 2.0 version of zoo availible from f.ms.uky.edu in
/pub/amiga/Utils. I just recently downloaded it, and it works fine. Hope this
will help you out.
