Ah, concerning automatic flow-control handling of the serial device: A
couple of months ago I had to write some software for an HP310 in
HPBASIC. Well I really couldn't stand the HPBASIC environment for
development, so I developed the source on our Sun fileserver. I wrote a
script which prepared the source so the HP could read it as ascii
program source. I use Dnet, so I would 'put' the completed files on my
ram disk, shut down dnet, flip my rs232 switch & cat the files to the
HP (wrote a file acceptor basic prog.).

Well, interesting thing, the Amiga refused to perform flow control -
neither Xon/Xoff or RTS/CTS if I remember correctly. No amount of
coaxing with preferences would change it's mind. Rebooted; Worked.
Turned out that any time after starting up the initial Dnet connect
window, I permanently lost handshake capabilities until I rebooted. I
didn't even have to start up the Dnet protocol. Looked at Dnet source -
as if I thought I'd know what to do about it, mailed Matt the info, I
he had no idea why either. I dont' know if Matt ever figured out what
was going on, but I don't have an easy way to test with Dnet 2.xx
anymore anyway.

Basically, why couldn't Preferences changes reset the handshake mode?
