[comp.sys.amiga] Optimizing a hard disk layout

cosell@bbn.com (Bernie Cosell) (05/03/89)

a colleague here was showing me some stuff on an IBM PC and he happened to be
showing me some of the Norton Utilities package. One program in that package
is a hard disk optimizer that looked quite neat: what it did was treated the
hard disk as a gigantic "sliding block puzzle" in an attempt to
  (a) get all of the files written out using near-contiguous blocks, and
  (b) get all the free space collected in one place.
Is there a utility like that for the Amiga?

There is a program called BAD. It is done by a small two person company called
MV-Micro. It does a good job of cleaning disk fragmentation up, and a
by-product of this is a faster drive. Boy, this was direct and to the point! :>
