[comp.sys.amiga] Assembler includes

CARROROB@UREGINA1.BITNET (Robert Carroll) (04/30/89)

Ok, this may seem academic, but .... I just got 1.3 includes and the
software tool kit a couple of weeks ago from Commodore. Now, I have a
decent understanding of ML concepts (from 8bit computers), but I have
never used a linker, or include files, ect. I have two good books on
68000 ml (Compute! and Abacus) but they are of no help. My question:

How do I go about using the include files, startup code and Amiga.lib
in my assembler programs????

If you have any info, advice, text files, examples, ect. I would be
VERY happy to hear from you!

I was in the same situation about 8 months ago.. I just happened on a program
that was at my local computer store and it sounds like just what you are
looking for.. The program is called :

        The ToolCaddy
             by
        The ToolCaddy Works
        P.O. Box 5873
        Laughlin, NV. 89029-5873
        (702) 298-4252

It is basically a disk for tutoring the user through the basics of EXEC
(including message handling, ports, multi-tasking, etc) and Intuition (opening
Windows and using Menus and Requestors,etc).. I'd say that the program is VERY
good when it comes to tutoring the user on the internals of EXEC, but when it
comes around to Intuition, they kind of skip around a little.. I believe that
the cost of this program is somewhere around $40... You do need to watch out
though, the disk contains a program that will enable you to display their
tutor text files on the screen and use keys on the keyboard to scroll throught
the entire text buffer.. On my machine running WB 1.3, I could get this
program to GURU easily. I ended up resorting to dumping the files to my
printer for ease of reference later on.

P.S. I've got Rev. B of the software.
