Does anyone out there know if Commodore still offers a Discount on hardware software and documentation to Amiga software developers? I'm just finishing up a new game for the Mac and am getting ready to port it to the Amiga...I need to buy the whole developers kit, hardware, software documents and all for the Amiga. For a 2500 system with hard drive & stuff this totaled over $5000....a discount would sure help. I know there used to be a developers discount for the Amiga, but is it still around? CATS offers hardware discounts to all members of the developer support programs. While actual cost is confidential, the cost is based on our standard dealer pricing, with an averaged shipping fee on top. The ability to purchased hardware is based on the available inventory within the U.S.A. The technical information sold through CATS is priced the same to all buyers. No developer discount is available. The Rom Kernel Manuals should be purchased at your local bookstore or Amiga dealer, as they are not available through CATS. Note: This information is valid ONLY for developers located in the U.S.A. Developers in other countries should contact their local C.B.M. sales company. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Lauren Brown -- CBM >>Commodore Amiga Technical Support<< 1200 Wilson Drive West Chester, PA 19380 UUCP ...{allegra,uunet,rutger,}!cbmvax!lauren PHONE 215-431-9100 Do not believe in miracles - rely on them. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Yes, call up CATS (Commodore Amiga Technical Support) and explain your position, then sign up as a developer. They will let you buy a system at a discount directly from them. --Chuck McManis uucp: {anywhere}!sun!cmcmanis BIX: cmcmanis ARPAnet: cmcmanis@sun.com These opinions are my own and no one elses, but you knew that didn't you. I might point out that mail order is pretty darn close to what CATS does, at least on the computers (now, on things like the 2090A you can get a good discount via CATS, but there's better/cheaper controllers out there). If your sole purpose of seeking developer status is "good discounts!", you're probably barking up the wrong tree... (price info is from a friend who bought a 2000 through the developer program last year, and my looking at mail-order prices at about the same time). Anyhow -- the developer program is for folks developing commercial software. As such, they send you AmigaMail (lots of "inside info" about AmigaDOS, most of which appears in Transactor-Amiga a few months later in different form) and AmigaMail Markets (how to market commercial software -- lots of info about marketing in foreign markets, last issue I looked at). If that's what you're interested in, contract Lauren. But if you're just an Average Joe who occasionally hacks his Amiga, not only is the developer program not for you -- it's not even worth it ($50 signup fee plus $50/year?). -- | // Eric Lee Green P.O.
