On the idea of (physical) bulletin boards: Say that I have a copy of a book. It has something in it of general interest. It has been stated that retyping this information on a BB is a violation of copyright laws. Is making a xerographic copy of the page(s) and posting them on the physical bulletin board likewise in violation? Do I have to rip the page out of the book and tack *that* up? I understand the *reasons* for the copyright laws, but I question the enforcement of the spirit in which they were concieved. -Dan Klein, Mellon Institute, Pittsburgh
