Hello. 'Tis I again. Wouldst the mighty powers deign to inform a lowly peasant of the proper paths to pursue? Problem: I purchased a Rodime ST506 drive. 5MHz, 90MB. It is not one of the Rodime drives listed in the A2090a manual. I do a Prep, reboot, and I get a "not a DOS device in Unit 1" So, I leave it off line, and once my machine is running, I switch it on, mount and format it. That works fine (heads move, it takes forever, lights flash, etc). Once it is done, I again see the bad news about it not being a DOS device. I played games with the mountlist to no avail. I also have ARP1.3 installed. Is this possibly an ARP problem? I heard people mentioning ARP MOUNT problems, but wasn't paying attention. I heard rumors that it is *possible* that old versions of the 2090a ROMs had a couple instructions out of whack that would conceivably lead to timing problems with certain Rodime ST506 drives. So, before I do hardware whacking, could someone: 1) If you know, tell me if my A2090a ROMs are the "conceivably troublesome" version (and where to get new ones) 2) If I'm hosed, and should go back to playing with floppies and bit of colored string instead of real computers, lemme know. 3) Inform me of other options. Like, a screwed disk.
