Last week in Paris, at SICOB, Commodore France announced the new C-A 68030 board. They showed an animation with smooth graphics running on the board. The board should be available in June (1989 ;-)), at a very competitive price : about 3000$ (+ taxes) for 68030/68882, 2Megs of 100ns RAM. This is about 2x less than GVP or CSA boards, at least in France. They also showed Un*x on a 2500, but actually, they could only play with the window system. Just to let you know ('twas advertised as a ``World Premiere'', nothing less ;-)) --Francois -- *- Francois Rouaix // When the going gets tough, * *- rouaix@inria.inria.fr \X/ the guru goes meditating... * *- SYSOP of Sgt. Of course, it's a bit difficult to get cache controllers that run at that speed and RAM at those speeds is slightly pricey ;-). 25Mhz versions have been out and in products for a while. In fact (more like, to the best of my knowledge :)) the '030 comes in 16, 20, 25 & 33 Mhz parts that can run as slow as 12.5 Mhz if you need 'em to. The 50Mhz part has been seen around here, rumor has it, but no one is saying when WE'LL be shipping it. What I want to know is, if we got 50 Mhz '030's what's the '040 and '050's gonna run at??
