[comp.sys.amiga] Seagate 296N HD

ASTLC%ALASKA.BITNET@cunyvm.cuny.edu (Tom Claydon - Paranoia At Work..) (05/13/89)

I am putting together a hard-drive system, which includes the Seagate
296N 80MB drive. Has anyone on the net had any problems with this drive?
How fast does it perform under FFS?

Thanks!

I have one of these beasts. Mine works fine. I had no errors on it when I
received it (and it's still error free).
Yes, I would recommend one (as long as it works!)
(I've had some problems with ST506 Seagate drives)
If you do get one, remember not to Mount your drive as 820 cylinders. It'll
only format to 811.

A fellow around here has had trouble getting his 296N working with a
StarDrive SCSI adaptor for StarboardII. The drive works with a PC,
so he knows the drive is good. We also could not get it working on
my StarDrive, which is interfacing to a 277N just fine. Let me know
if you want a pointer to him for more current info.
