I understand from a local dealer that he read an article in this week's issue of a dealer mag called "Computer Reseller" or something-reseller (my bad memory, not his) that Commodore just announced/revealed that they are shifting their emphasis away from the Amiga and are going to push their PC line at the expense of the Amiga. I was told by him that this is due to the small market share and small niche that the Amiga holds. Figures he stated were such that Commodore has "about 1000" PC dealers but only 900 Amiga dealers - and that the Amiga growth potential is nearly zero compared to that of their clone line. This does not sound good. I may be hopelessly behind the news, but the person giving me info believed it recent and I thought it significant enough to follow up here on the net. Has some insidious marketing decision forecast the doom of the Amiga or was this guy just blowing smoke in my trusting, innocent(ha!) face? This sounds exactly like the kind of thing a company would love to tell one side of its market (the PC side) while fearing a backlash from the other side... In any event, I thought from all I've >PREVIOUSLY< heard that the Amiga was doing well enough - I've never had to pay much attention to the "other" machines C makes. --------------------------------------------- Dan Filner UCBerkeley - c184-au@holden.Berk...
