I'm currently looking at several HD controllers for the A500 (I want to use it with my Seagate 296N), and I was wondering what the A500 users out there with HD controllers use. I would prefer a HD controller with a bus- passthrough, but if not, that's OK. Also, does anyone know about Pacific Peripherals SYNERGY HD controller for the A500? I'd like to get one with 2 Megs installed, and was wondering if anyone has recently purchased one of these little puppies! Thanks! ============================================================================ Tom Claydon | "Ms. Pac-Man? Sorry to post, but I cannot e-mail direct to bitnet. In respnse to Tom Claydon's [Bitnet astlc@alaska.bitnet] question, I have the CLtd A500 controller (the old non-autoboot one) and am generally pleased with it. There are some problems with the latest version of their SCSIdos 3.0 -- the low level format programs will NOT work with the A500 controller, which requires going back to SCSIdos 2.6 for low level formats. 3.0 operates fine, you just can't do LLF's. Diskperf gives me 160k reads and 65k writes -- on a slow 65ms Seagate -- satisfyingly faster than floppies. Josh Rovero Internet: PRovero@wsmr-simtel20.army.mil Packet radio: KK1D@WD4MIZ -------
