For those interested in programming in Basic on the Amiga (for those times when all-out speed is less important), the one I use is Absoft's AC/BASIC compiler for Amiga Basic. Besides allowing you to continue using the Amiga's standard Basic, it is also fairly portable between Absoft's AC/BASIC versions on the Apple IIgs and Macintosh. I've also heard it's quite similar to IBM QuickBasic. Its portability and ease of use make it an attractive alternative to other Basics I've seen.
