This has been bothering me for some time, and now I can get it to happen on a regular basis, so I thought I would ask. I have a copy of a game (I have the original too) that I use to feed my drives before I go to bed. My workbench disk is already out when I stick this disk in the drive. I then get a "insert workbench" requester. If I cancel it, I still get the disk icon and no message about some failed task. (Usually when disk validator fails to load I get that message, here I get nothing.) WHY IS WORKBENCH NEEDED? (What can I load into RAM to get this to stop?) On a related issue. Why, upon exiting DPII or DPIII or Sculpt 3-D (when the program disk is not in the drive) do their disks want to be stuck 1) back into the system 2) back into that particular drive You all have seen the requester, Please insert Volume DPaint II: in unit DF1: Lastly, these questions make me want to voice my wish for 1.4, a requester-why. Something like a WB menu option that will tell you you got the last requester, sort of like the DOS why command. You see, in this age of viruses, I think that knowing why your system wants particular disks removes one more uncertainty.
