[comp.sys.amiga] sidecar dip switches

dennya@pnet02.cts.com (Denny Atkin) (05/17/89)

Hi. I just purchased a used Sidecar that contained no manual. It has 512K
of RAM installed, but it is only recognizing 256K. Something is set wrong.
 A friend on Plink suggested I look for a jumper marked J11 right above the
SideCar ROM, but there's nothing there.

Has anyone added the extra 256K of RAM to a Sidecar? Do you remember what
you did to make the thing recognize it? Could you PLEASE send me EMAIL
describing what to do?

The botttom right of my circuit board looks something like this:

         |ROM   |       |=====|  |=====|    <---RAM chips
         |______|       |=====|  |=====|
                   ______________   _______
                   |8 DIP SWITCH|   |4 DIP|
                   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~
                       XXX  <--3 pronged jumper or power tap
                                 with 2 loose wires (red & black)
                                 coming out of the thing plugged into it.
I have a REV 2 SideCar, if that means anything.  Any help would be
GREATLY appreciated.
(Actually, if someone could just send me the correct DIP switch settings for a
Sidecar with 512K of memory, set to boot to the CGA screen.
  Tanks!)
