[comp.sys.amiga] A new kickstart for A500 ?

rcstrl@eutrc3.UUCP (r.j.lukassen) (05/22/89)

Hello all you Amigans..

Is there anyone out there who has tried to use the A500's internal 512K ram
expansion as a kind of WROM, so that other versions of KICKSTART can be used
like A1000 users can ?

While there's a facility called "RamKick" that'll let you add replacement OS
modules in normal memory, you can't simply replace an entire KickStart using
normal memory. KickStart wants to live at a specific location in memory,
and you're extra memory isn't there on an A500, ROM is. If you've got an
A2500 or other machine with an MMU, stay tuned, you will be able to read in
KickStart disks before long....
