[comp.sys.amiga] New manuals , 1 Meg Angus and Commodore hard drive

Peter Mitchell@tcom.stc.co.uk (Peter Mitchell) (06/05/89)

I have just read an article that the new manuals are available now. I can
confirm this as I bought a copy of Includes and Autodocs at the Commodore
Computer show in London this weekend - it is very useful and excelent book!
I spoke to a salesman from Addleson Wedsley (have I spelt this correctly?)
and he told me that the seccond Rom reference manual will be released in
July and that the revised hardware reference manual will released in August.

I asked one of the sales people at the Commodore stand about the availablity
of the 1 Meg Angus in the UK, the salesman apart from being very rude and
not seeming to know what I was talking about until I told him that it had
been sighted in the USA said that there are no plans in the immediate
future to release the 1 Meg Angus here and if I wanted one I would have
to jump on a plane tto the states! If you think that is bad then I should
tell yyou that the A2500 has not even been premiered in this country yet.

Commodore also got around to showing off there new hard drive for the A500.
It is a very nice looking slim line unit (it is much better looking and
smaller than the yucky looking A1010 disc drive - its true I think that it
is yucky looking so please don't flame me! and anyway I have never met
anyone who has bought one!) but the trouble is it is only available in a
20 meg version , and it is also the slowest unit available! Also for about
the same price I can buy from several different manufacturers 30 and 40
meg hard drives which are all a lot faster! On the plus side however the
drive also can have built into it up to 2 Megs of expansion ram.
