[comp.sys.amiga] SetCPU with the AT bridgeboard

ewilts%Janus.MRC.AdhocNet.CA@cornellc.cit.cornell.edu (Ed Wilts - CandianOxy) (06/05/89)

I was attempting to use SetCPU V1.4 today with the FASTROM option. It seems to
be a sure way to get "Software error - task held" requesters. This appears to
be common with either the AT or XT bridgeboards installed. Luckily I had SRT
lying around (thanks Carolyn!) that displayed the exception code and the task
name (and allowed me to suspend the process so I could find all the tasks that
got really upset).

The tasks going down (with exception=2) are
        ZaphodServiceTask
        AmouseProcess
        PCdisk

Any ideas as to what's happening?

Sure 'nuff...

It's some kind of protection violation, we don't know just what yet, though
the Bridge Card People are looking into it. A fix is already on the way,
though -- I just sent SetCPU V1.5 to Bob, who will hopefully post it
shortly. It will install a handler for level 2 exceptions, and all your
bridge software generated level 2 gurus go away.

You're right that you're part of "The Crew That Never Rests". Thanks for the
fast response, Dave. I'll just hang on until it makes it to this side of the
planet...
