Are the enhanced chips going to be made available for the A1000? I heard rumors that they weren't. If not, would it be possible for CATS to provide a mod that would? I'm willing to take the risk to desolder, etc. Sean -- *** Sean Casey sean@ms.uky.edu, sean@ukma.bitnet *** Quid, me vexari? {backbone|rutgers|uunet}!ukma!sean *** ``I'm not the forumnet lord; I'm the forumnet janitor.'' - me

The same is true for the "fat" Agnus (1 Meg CHIP). Actually, I know one hardware hacker who is toying with the idea - apparently the big problem is in the clocks, which are provided to the A1000 chip set, but are outputs on the A500/2000 chip set. It requires cutting a lot of traces on the board to dike out the old circuitry. But it's still in the "probably never" category, so, like myself, you are out of luck. You can't expect *infinite* upward compatibility. (I will post if, 6 months down the road or whenever, he does get it working, but don't hold your breath.) -- -Colin Plumb "Commodore made the Amiga.
