[comp.sys.amiga] Problems with GVP Bootroms

wizard@accsys.UUCP (Christoph Brand) (06/16/89)

I use a GVP Hardcard with a Quantum 40 drive including autobooting.
Since I installed the autoboot roms, I have troubles running some
software, e.g. TurboSilver3.0 by Impulse. It is no more possible
to play the created animations, there are always *horrible* graphics
distortions that can't be described in words (they are too ugly).
Has anybody the same problems?

I've got the same setup on my 500 (Hardcard) and have had compatibility
problems with only one program... B.A.D. a floppy disk , hard disk optimizer.
The program when run simply hangs up forcing a reboot to get your machine
back. The authors of B.A.D. told me that there is an update that works around
a problem in the autoboot roms. They also told me that the problem is with the
way a certain message port is (or isn't) communicating with the rest of the
system when the disk access is sped up. Don't ask me to explain it's just
what I (think I) heard. Maybe Turbosilver is using these same or similiar
routines to speed up disk access ??
