[comp.sys.amiga] Anyone know how to deal with the map in Moria

cosell@bbn.com (Bernie Cosell) (06/18/89)

I'm having a hair of trouble with printing a map out of Moria (amiga version).
The trouble is that the map is larded-through with control characters that
drive my printer wild. Looking at a binary dump of the file makes it clear
what is going on: all of those neat 'odd' chars that you see on the display are
encoded by funny control chars, the most prevalent being \037 to indicate an
illuminated by unoccupied location (just '.' in the ascii versions of moria,
but a very dim screen on the amiga display). There are lots of other control
chars, also, but I haven't correlated them with what I know to be around the
dungeon, so I don't know exactly what they are (\274, \275, \335, etc).

Does anybody know: (a) how to get an ASCII map out of (amiga) moria? or
		   (b) how to interpret all the funny character codes (e.g.,
to map them back into the old-style, but ascii, moria
		       char set).

For case (b), I'll be happy to write and distribute a print-filter for the
maps, if someone can help with with the right controlchar->ascii maps.

Thanks!
