[comp.sys.amiga] Surplus Computer Equipment

steve@morgoth.UUCP (Steve Hall) (06/16/89)

Hello everyone!
I recently got the name of a company that buys and sells
surplus inventories. When a company releases a new model or
discontinues a product line, this company buys up all the items and
sells 'em at AMAZING prices. I thought all you guys on the net might
be interested in getting some really good deals. By the way, the
reason I don't want to release their name to the world is that they
don't want to mail out fliers to thousands of people until they know
they are serious requests. Anyway, here is a partial list - if you
are interested, email me and I will send you their name and address:

Anyway, this is just a sampling of the items in their June catalog.
By the way, everything is under a 30 day warranty. If anyone is

Oh, and by the way, I have absolutely no affiliation or connection
with the company. They were brought to my attention, I checked out
their prices and thought others might be interested.

Hello again!

Well, I came back into the office today to find I had about 50
e-mail messages! I can't say I am really surprised! Due to the sheer
number of people wanting to get their hands on some brand new stuff for
a real low price, I am now posting more information:

The company is:	International Materials Exchange, Inc.
			1340 Soldiers Field Road
			Boston, MA. 02135
			Phone: (617)254-1700
			Fax: (617)254-0392

Since a lot of people were interested in the 19" monochrome monitor or
the Moniterm Viking monitor, I will copy their descriptions directly
from their ad (if you are interested in something else, you will have
to ghet their catalog...it's free):

 		      19" High Resolution Monitor

NEW. Moniterm Model Viking I monochrome monitor with PC
interface card. High resolution (1280x960) on a 19"
screen. Hardware scrolling provides a virtual display of
	2048x960. Non-interlaced 66kHz horizontal scan rate.
Supports MicroSoft Windows (286 and 386), PC PageMaker,
GEM, Ventura Publisher, Lotus 1-2-3, WordPerfect, AutoCAD
and most other CAD programs. Compatable with IBM PC/XT/AT
and compatables -- limited to bus speed of 8MHz or less.

List Price: $2295	IME Special Price: $895 - new
						   $695 - used

Now, I know the stuff about the I*M doesn't appeal to you (makes me
want to retch), but, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't this is Viking
monitor that is compatable with the new CBM 19" monitor? If it is,
then this is something that QUITE a lot of folks would be interested
in... This could help a LOT of people out and put 19" high res
monitors of quite a few people's desks!!!

			19" High Resolution Monitor

NEW. Made by Video Monitors, Inc. 19" monochrome. Made
for Apollo Computers. 220 volt, 50Hz.

List Price: $1,295	IME Special Price: $50

Again, I have absolutely no affiliation or connection with the company.
They were brought to my attention, I checked out their prices and thought
others might be interested.

NO, NO, NO. They're both called Viking, but they're definitely
different. For one thing, they come with completely different
display adaptors that plug into the computer. I believe they also
run at a slightly different rate.

FYI: I use a Moniterm Viking 1 all day every day on my A2500. It's
fantastic. Yeah, it ain't color, but at work, I have very little
need for color (laser printing, memos, spreadsheets, etc.) I can
see 100 lines of text in WordPerfect! I can see a whole 8.5x11"
page on Professional Page in 100% magnification... to paraphrease:
once you use one you can never go back.
