Help!! I need to find two internal Amiga 1000 floppy drives. Our users group has a A1000 in the repair shop for more than a year. One of the problems in getting it fixed is availability of internal A1000 drives. If you have ANY information about how I can get my hands on a new or rebuilt drive PLEASE send me email or post if it bounces. Do what I did the last time my internal drive died -- get your hands on an A1000 external drive (the A1010, I think), rip the drive unit out of it, and stick it in the 1000. I tried this once on my A1000 to test a drive; didn't do it long enough to really know if it always works, but it sure seemed to. The one I was testing was a Sony that started as a 600rpm drive, and I was converting it.

One of the > Amiga 1000 internal replacement drive > item 20092 reg. $199.95 now $145.00 I have had to have the internal drive on my 1000 replaced twice by an authorized Commodore/Amiga dealer, and paid $125 for both the drive and labor. $145 seems hardly a deal. I suggest that you get your 1000 back and take it to another repair shop. I never had to wait over 5 business days to get my amiga fixed, or any computer that I have for that matter.
