[comp.sys.amiga] One last request for 1.4

a218@mindlink.UUCP (Charlie Gibbs) (06/23/89)

I hope this isn't too late, but there's one thing I'd _really_
like to see in 1.4 - the CLONE option as the default for the COPY
command. As a software developer, I take date and time stamps very
seriously; not only are they a primary indication of the program
version, they are also vital to the proper operation of MAKE.

I cannot accept any COPY routine which destroys date and time
stamps. This is the main reason I'm still using Matt Dillon's
shell. (The other reasons are its sorted directory list and its
wild card handling.)

Please, Commodore people, give this one some thought. And if
anyone has any suggestions as to why this information should be
routinely destroyed, let me know - I haven't been in a really good
flame war for a while. :-)

Why not put an AShell alias in your Shell-Startup to redefine COPY?

Try this:

In your s:shell-startup add the line 'alias copy copy [] clone'.
