[comp.sys.amiga] DPIII and overscan wierdness

jmdavis@cbnewsd.ATT.COM (j.michael.davis) (06/28/89)

I have noticed several problems with DPIII and overscan. It starts
with the fact that the screen "jumps" in hitting the F10 key to remove
the side bars. If the lower left of the picture is in the window before
hitting F10 (using the arrow keys to get it there) and you hit F10 you
will see _more_ of the image in the lower left! In otherwords, you can't
get to the real lower left corner of your picture when the menu and gadget
items are there (when in overscan)!

Another problem is very similar, but even more frustrating. It seems that
the overscan painting surface is slightly smaller when the screen is in
overscan. For example, if I paint a line or two at the top of the screen
when the PAGE size is OVERSCAN and the SCREEN is NORMAL and then go into
PAGE size OVERSCAN and SCREEN size OVERSCAN those lines won't be visible!
Moving the page around using the arrow keys and using the magnifying glass
up in the corner doesn't help, those lines just aren't there.

Currently my 1084 monitor has the H/V size and centering set so that I
can see a full overscan image with very little of it going off screen.
This is a pain when I go back to WB and its title bar is shrunk.

MORE info -
Sometimes the missing lines are at the top, sometimes at the
	bottom.

Sometimes I paint a line at the extreme top and bottom in overscan
and when going back to normal and editing the picture I can see that
there is more room for lines, so I put some in and go back to overscan
and I can NOW see the new area where the new lines are.

More lines seem to be missing when I boot with WB and then start up
DPIII than when I boot with DPIII. Using DPIII's system-config file
doesn't help. My WB disk has MOREROWS turned OFF.
