[net.music] More on piano tuners and pianos

junk for line gobblers....

I had a long discussion with my piano tuner one day and found some very
strong opinions on what was available today. He apparently spent a lot of
time trying to count how many different timbres each piano produced by
varying the touch. In otherwords, pianos have a different sound when
played loud, than when played softly.

He liked Steinway and Baldwin the best, although he wasn't happy with the
new Steinway's. He recommended an ugly black Baldwin upright as today's
best buy. He hated Kawai, Bosendorfer, Yamaha, Kimball, Wurlitzer, etc.

I've played the first five I mentioned and was happy with the sound, though.
