[comp.sys.amiga] Agnus Problems/ INFO flame

QP06%PACE.BITNET@cunyvm.cuny.edu (QP06000) (07/01/89)

Greetings,

I have just finished installing the new fatter agnus inside my
Amiga 2000, rev. 4.4 dealer upgraded to a 6.0 (or whatever is in the
tech topics). The first time I tried my system the video would not work
because it seems the sync signals were straying off of the norm. We
replaced the Agnus with a new one and now that works fine. But my
problem now is that I cannot write or modify any files on any of my
hard dive partitions or boot off of RAD. I think it is something in my
mountlist for my drives and RAD but I can't find out what it is.

What other features will fatter agnus give me besides 1 meg of
CHIP RAM and write-protected hard drives? :)

My system contains/is/would like to remain
1- Amiga 2000 rev 6.0 (whatever)
w/ A-2090 contected to a Miniscribe 8425F (ST-506) 20 MB Hard Drive.
Micron 2 MB Ram Board. A-2088 Bridgeboard, EGA Card, AST 6 pak +,
   and a PLUS HardCard 20.

This is my mountlist for my RAD: RES0: DH0: and DH1:
            Dh1: is a fastfile partition.

****SCORCHING RED-HOT PISSED-OFF ANGRY MAD AS HELL FLAME ON ****

How dare you slander Amiga Repair Centers like that in your latest
issue where 'Bryce's Amiga dies'. I have been working for an Amiga
dealer in White Plains for 1 yr. repairing and upgrading many Amigas.
The owner works seven days a week fixing machines and still is a devoted
Amiga fanatic (aren't we all). I know that SOME repair centers suck, but
to lay blame to all of them in one fell swoop is not only ignorant but a
blatant attack on the few people who can help you when you need it.
In our store, most Amigas are repaired within the week and our
labor rates are reasonable. Yes, we do chip replacement and true
servicing not board swapping. Now if you have had bad experiences with
one service center then take it up with their commodore rep. (he/she
can put more pressure on them, but don't maliscously attack all of us.)
***** FLAME OFF ****

Thank you...

The problem concerning RAD: doesn't work with New Fat Agnus:

Solution is put "SetPatch r" at the beginning of your startup-sequence, not
modifying the mountlist.
