In a recent article (sorry, Amiga ANews doesn't let me reply or followup), Phil Stone (phil@eos.UUCP) mentions: >I think Phil Burke and his partner (whose name I have forgotten) would >take strong exception to this. To refresh your memory: these two won >the speed programming contest that was held about two months ago, >using JFORTH on the Amiga In fact, they were the ONLY two to complete >the assigned task in the alloted time, not just the first to finish. > >They finished the very complex task, which entailed interfacing to an >obscure hardware character-generating gizmo, in approximately 90 minutes. >Time alloted was two hours. It is safe to say they got "something >working quickly." "speed programming contest"? Could you describe this some more? I've always been a fan of programming contests (I've been involved in nearly all phases of them). Was this an Amiga-specific one? What were the rules? Where was it? Give me my latest Draco compiler, all my libraries, and my Amiga 2500, and I'll take on anybody!!! 'Course, since I live way up here in Edmonton, it'd be a bit tricky getting to wherever you held the contest... -- -- Chris Gray ...alberta!myrias!ami-cg!cg
