I finally got Maxtor pinned down on what they can do for pricing on the Maxtor XT-3280S and XT3380S hard disk drives. Since I got such good response from the batch of new-but-no-longer-in-warranty 3280's, I was able to get good pricing from them. Here's what it boils down to... A Maxtor XT-3280S (280M unformatted, 230M formatted) will sell for $1150. A Maxtor XT-3380S (380M unformatted, 300M formatted) will sell for $1300. These are new drives, direct from Maxtor, and they come with the full six month warranty. I'll ship anywhere in the continental US for free and charge only what it ends up costing me to ship outside the US. Here are the specs on the drives; XT-3280S XT-3380S CapacityUF 286.86M 383.72M Capacity F 244.41M 319.61M SCSI Buss 1.5MBytes/sec 1.5MBytes/sec Sustained Data 870K/sec 1.2MBytes/sec Ave. Seek 30ms 27ms Sec/track 26/25 34/33 MTBF 20,000POH 20,000POH Design Life 5 years 5 years For more info, leave me mail. To order one (or more) drive(s), send a check or money order (no cash!) to: Bill Seymour 1701 SE Oak St Hillsboro, OR 97123 So far, I know of people who're using these drives with the Supra, Microbotics, GVP and Commodore SCSI controllers. Supra (and possibly Microbotics) are the only ones that have low level format routines fully implemented.
